heal.abstract The problem of input-output linearization with simultaneous decoupling via restricted state feedback for nonsquare nonlinear systems is investigated in this paper. The problem is treated on the basis of a new algebraic approach whose main feature is that it reduces the determination of the admissible state-feedback control laws to the solution of an algebraic and a first-order partial differential system of equations. Verifiable necessary and sufficient conditions of an algebraic nature are established for the solvability of the aforementioned problem, which rely on the solvability of these systems of equations. Moreover, an explicit expression for a special admissible restricted state-feedback controller is analytically derived. © Oxford University Press 1999. en
