Solar Decathlon: μια δέσμευση για έρευνα και καινοτομία στο σχεδιασμό βιώσιμων κατοικιών

Abstract

Στην εποχή που η περιβαλλοντική υποβάθμιση και η ενεργειακή κρίση επιτάσσουν την «ανάγκη για αλλαγή» προς την αειφόρο ανάπτυξη, η παρούσα εργασία διερευνά τον διεθνή φοιτητικό διαγωνισμό «Solar Decathlon» που προάγει το σχεδιασμό βιώσιμων και ενεργειακά αποδοτικών κατοικιών. Αρχικά αναλύονται η δομή και οι στόχοι του U.S. Department of energy Solar Decathlon και παρουσιάζονται και σχολιάζονται οι έξι διοργανώσεις του που έχουν πραγματοποιηθεί μέχρι σήμερα. Στη συνέχεια μελετάται το Solar Decathlon Europe, το παλιότερο παράρτημα του διαγωνισμού στην Ευρώπη και αντίστοιχα οι δύο διοργανώσεις που έχουν λάβει χώρα μέχρι σήμερα. Ακολουθεί μια αναφορά στα νεώτερα παραρτήματα του Solar Decathlon, το Solar Decathlon China και Solar Decathlon Latin America and Caribbean. Τέλος αξιολογούνται η εξέλιξη του διαγωνισμού στο πέρασμα του χρόνου και η ανταπόκριση του στους στόχους του.

In the era that environmental degradation and energy crisis require the “need of change” towards sustainable development, the current research work studies the international student competition “Solar Decathlon”, that promotes the design of sustainable and energy efficient houses. Initially the structure and the objectives of U.S. Department of energy Solar Decathlon are analyzed and the six competitions that have held so far are presented and examinated. Afterwards Solar Decathlon Europe is studied, the European version of the competition and the two competitions, that have taken place to date, are studied. Then short reference is made to the newest additions to the family of Solar Decathlon, those of Solar Decathlon China and Solar Decathlon Latin America and Caribbean. Finally the evolution of the competition over the years is evaluated as well as the response to its objectives.
