heal.abstract	Η διπλωματική εργασία αφορά στην αποκατάσταση και επανάχρηση των 7 συνεχόμενων νεωρίων στο παλιό λιμάνι των Χανίων. Τον 16ο μΧ αιώνα οι Ενετοί κατασκεύασαν 17 πέτρινα νεώρια εκ των οποίων σήμερα σώζονται εγκαταλελειμμένα και σε κακή κατάσταση τα 7 συνεχόμενα και ένα ακόμη δυτικότερα. Στόχος μας είναι η αποκατάσταση και ανάδειξη του μνημείου, αλλά και η λειτουργική επανένταξη του συνόλου του στη ζωή της πόλης. Το τεχνικό κομμάτι της εργασίας περιλαμβάνει εκτενή αποτύπωση των διαστάσεων και των βλαβών και προτάσεις αποκατάστασής τους με συμβατά υλικά και σύμφωνα με τους διεθνείς κανονισμούς. Το συνθετικό κομμάτι περιλαμβάνει πρόγραμμα χρήσεων πολιτιστικού συγκροτήματος και εξωτερική διαμόρφωση περιπάτου, πλατείας, ελεύθερου χώρου στη θέση του κατεδαφισμένου 8ου νεωρίου και προβλήτας στη βόρεια όψη. Η κεντρική συνθετική ιδέα είναι η δημιουργία δύο χώρων εργαστηρίων στη νότια μεριά του όπου θα πραγματοποιούνται workshops, τα αποτελέσματα των οποίων θα εκτίθενται στους εκθεσιακούς χώρους περιοδικών εκθέσεων, αμφιθέατρο, βιβλιοθήκη, cafe και χώρο υποδοχής με τη διοίκηση στο πατάρι. Η εσωτερική διάταξη προκύπτει από μία πορεία που διατρέχει όλο το συγκρότημα λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τις υψομετρικές διαφορές στις 4 κορυφές. Τα πατάρια έχουν στηριχθεί αναρτώμενα σε μεταλλικά πλαίσια που δεν επιβαρύνουν τη λιθοδομή και καθιστούν την επέμβαση αναστρέψιμη. Οι σκάλες είναι από corten, εμπνευσμένες από την κίνηση μίας προπέλας πλοίου στο χώρο. Εσωτερικά έχουν σχεδιαστεί ειδικά χωρίσματα-καθίσματα από ξύλινο σκελετό με επιφάνειες corten ως μορφολογική αναφορά στα σκαριά των πλοίων που χτίζονταν στα νεώρια. Εξωτερικά αποκαθίσταται η αρχική διαφάνεια στις βορεινές όψεις με ανακλαστικά περιστρεφόμενα υαλοπετάσματα τα οποία ανακλούν τη θάλασσα. Το πεζοδρόμιο αφαιρείται μπροστά από τα 3 μεσαία νεώρια ως αναφορά στην αρχική τους λειτουργία, αποκόπτοντας την μεταγενέστερη προβλήτα από τα νεώρια. Στο σημείο αυτό, το δάπεδο των νεωρίων καταλήγει στη θάλασσα με βαθμίδες πάνω στις οποίες κυλά νερό. Η μπετονένια προβλήτα αποκόπτεται από το πεζοδρόμιο και φέρει μία ξύλινη κατασκευή κυματοειδούς μορφολογίας που καταλήγει σε υπαίθριο αμφιθέατρο και λειτουργεί ως περίπατος στον άξονα και ως σημείο στάσης στα πλαινά σημεία μεγαλύτερης κλίσης. Στη δυτική όψη διαμορφώνεται η πλατεία Κατεχάκη που συνδέει τα νεώρια με το ενετικό τελωνείο και στην ανατολική διαμορφώνεται υπαίθριος χώρος της βιβλιοθήκης που στεγάζεται με tensile membranes που θυμίζουν πανιά πλοίου και επιτρέπει τη θέαση στο αποκεκαλυμμέο θεμέλιο του κατεδαφισμένου 8ου νεωρίου.	el
heal.abstract	The thesis project concerns the restoration and reuse of the 7 attached naval manufacturing units (Neoria) situated at the old port of the city of Chania in Crete. Along with the another detached one in the western end of the port, they are the sole abandoned remainders out of a total of 17 stone-masonry units built by the Venetians in the 16th century. The project aims towards renegotiating the monumental value of the 7 remaining units by suggesting a new fuctional program that will reintroduce them back to the urban life as a cultural centre. The aesthetic concept has been developed so as to pay tribute to the naval character of the site's physical and historical attributes via the implementation of several poetic references to the forms that populate the Cretan port. These include the wavy form of the pier as reference to the sea movement, the penetration of the water in the ground floor of three units as reference to their past use, the tensile structures as reminiscence of the sailing boat's silhouettes, the twisting staircases as solid representations of the water vortex caused by a propeller and the purpose-made timber frame benches lined with corten plates in an attempt to pay tribute to the hulls of the boats that were once fabricated in the complex. Throughout this project special care has been taken in the initial investigative stages so as to make sure that all damages of the existing structure will be properly identified and restored. Moreover, the technical aspect of the thesis suggests for any of the proposed spatial interventions to adapt a non-offensive logic to the existing masonry. Therefore, the interior zones are modeled after a course that runs through the whole complex while morphologically responding to the height differentiations of the existing units. The mezzanine floors are supported by suspended steel frames that do not stress the existing stone masonry, thus rendering the whole intervention reversible.	en
