heal.abstract	Η παρούσα εργασία αφορά στην εισαγωγή μιας σύγχρονης λειτουργίας στο εγκαταλελειμμένο κάστρο της Κελεφάς στο Οίτυλο Μάνης. Η αναβίωσή του και η ενεργή συμμετοχή του στη ροή της σύγχρονης ζωής του τόπου αποτελεί την αρχιτεκτονική πρόκληση και στόχο μας. Η κατασκευή του κάστρου αποδίδεται στους Οθωμανούς το 1670, με σκοπό τον έλεγχο του όρμου του Οιτύλου από τους Βενετούς, αλλά και των ετοιμοπόλεμων φατριών της ημιαυτόνομης περιοχής της Μάνης. Σε λιγότερο από μισό αιώνα (1715) έχασε τη στρατηγική του σημασία και εγκαταλείφθηκε. Αναγνωρίζοντας την ανάγκη για αναζωοδότηση των μνημείων οχυρωματικής αρχιτεκτονικής ως επιταγή για την πολιτιστική τους προσφορά και τη συμμετοχή τους στην αναπτυξιακή διαδικασία, ερευνήσαμε τη δυνατότητα εγκατάστασης ενός πλήρως λειτουργικού περιβαλλοντικού φορέα μέσα στο κάστρο. Η πρόταση για ένα Κέντρο Διαχείρισης και Ενημέρωσης των Ζωνών Ειδικής Προστασίας (Ζ.Ε.Π.) Ταϋγέτου και Νοτίου Μάνης καλύπτει την απαίτηση για τον έλεγχο της προστατευόμενης περιοχής και την περιβαλλοντική ευαισθητοποίηση των κατοίκων. Μέσω μιας ορισμένης πορείας επίσκεψης επιδιώκεται η ανάδειξη του ερειπιώνα μέσα στο κάστρο ταυτόχρονα με την περιήγηση στους εκθεσιακούς χώρους. Οι δραστηριότητες που συγκεντρώνονται εντός του οχυρωμένου χώρου (εκδηλώσεις και προβολές, εκπαιδευτικές δραστηριότητες, βιβλιοθήκη, γραφεία Φορέα Διαχείρισης, φιλοξενία εθελοντών, αναψυκτήριο) εξασφαλίζουν την υποστήριξη και την αποδοχή της νέας χρήσης από το κοινωνικό σύνολο, συμβάλλουν στη διατήρηση και την προώθηση των αξιών του μνημείου, αλλά και στη βιωσιμότητα του σχεδίου μακροπρόθεσμα.	el
heal.abstract	This project refers to assigning a new function to the abandoned fortress of Kelefa, which dominates the Oitylo bay at the western coast of Mani. The rehabilitation and the adaptive reuse of this fortress as an active element of the contemporary architectural palette is focused on as an architectural challenge. The Turks constructed the fortress of Kelefa in 1670 (during the Turk-Venetian wars) in order to gain control of the Oitylo bay and at the same time inspect the warlike inhabitants of the semi-autonomous region of Mani. The fortress was deprived of its strategic significance in less than half of a century (1715) and was abandoned ever since. By acknowledging the importance of breathing new life in fortresses and other defensive buildings in order to enhance their contribution to cultural development, we explored the possibility of installing a fully functional environmental management organization within the castle. Our suggestion is the construction of the “Centre for Management and Information of the Special Protection Zones of Taygetos and Southern Mani”, which meets the requirement for monitoring the protected area and raising environmental awareness among the residents and visitors. The visitor can access the contemporary exhibition through a specific route in which the monumental value of the ruins is highlighted and enhanced. The new functions that are installed in the fortress (educational activities and events, library, office area for the Management Agency, habitation hostels, restaurant-cafeteria) ensure the community support to the rehabilitation project and the viability of the long-term plan, whilst contributing to the preservation of the monument.	en
