The lecture focuses on the research and recording of containers, analyzing their basic characteristics, properties and historical path. The architecture of containers is presented through the study of their construction form, structure, materials, typology and their evolution from a means of transport to a structural element. Particular emphasis is given to international experience, through examples of architectural projects abroad, with the aim of documenting the possibility of utilizing containers as building architectural projects for any use.
The evolution of the container in architecture is presented as a dynamic process, starting from its initial use in transportation and reaching its habitation and integration into urban and natural space. The different ways of utilizing it worldwide are recorded, with selective reference to examples for each use, both small and large scale. The research is based on bibliographic sources and online material, examining the application of containers in residences, commercial buildings, public works and special constructions.
At the same time, the container is also approached as a work of art, through the relationship of its volume, placement and development within the city. Its role in the design of the urban landscape and its integration into the environment are analyzed, as well as its contribution to the reuse of temporary or permanent constructions. Particular mention is made of the environmental benefits, such as the reduction of the CO₂ footprint, the saving of resources and the speed of construction, especially in cases of covering emergency needs. |
