heal.abstract	The research conducted in the present PhD thesis aims to provide insights into the well-posedness theory for partial differential equations related to a class of functionals with generalized Orlicz growth which is allowed to be linear at certain regions of the domain. As a complement to our theoretical analysis, we propose an image denoising model based on a variable-growth total variation regularizer of double-phase type. Furthermore, we present numerical experiments, carried out with a modified version of the Chambolle–Pock algorithm, which demonstrate the effectiveness of our model in improving upon the classical Rudin–Osher–Fatemi approach by reducing the staircasing effect.	en
