heal.abstract |
The linear analysis is presented for the electron-cyclotron maser with axial initial electron velocity. The analysis refers to a filamentary monoenergetic electron beam, described by fluid equations and interacting with the fast hybrid modes of a partially dielectric-loaded resonant cavity. Wave growth is obtained when the transverse magnetic force on the beam electrons exceeds the corresponding electric force component. A system of algebraic equations is obtained for the growth rate and the frequency shift of the interaction. Solutions of this system are obtained leading to expressions for the starting current, the linear efficiency, the growth rate and the frequency shift. |
