An apparent growth mathematical model, for organic carbon removal and nitrification in RBC systems, is presented and verified against experimental data from a pilot plant and performance data reported in the literature. A design procedure is outlined. Additional evaluation and elaboration of the model is attempted, by focusing on aspects such as wastewater variability, biomass distribution and characteristics and kinetic parameters estimation. |
