A systematic procedure is presented for the performance of the hydraulic design of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP). The present paper consists of two parts. In the first part the procedure is described as comprising of 5 steps: (a) numbering of locations of interest, (b) identification of the control points, (c) formulation of calculation modules, (d) construction of the calculation computer spreadsheet in Lotus 1-2-3 environment and (e) application of the program for the calculation of water elevations. In the second part, the calculation procedure is applied successfully to the STP of Kos in Greece, an extended aeration plant with biological P and N-removal. Calculations show that total head requirements are of the order of 3.0-3.5 m. |
