heal.abstract We present the design of a jet plenum mechanism driven by a piston, for the study of the axisymmetric shear layer at the zone of flow establishment (ZFE). The jet fluid inside the plenum moves as a plug flow, resulting in turbulence levels at the nozzle equal to the electronic noise of the LDA frequency tracker. The quality of the flow near the nozzle is depicted via laser induced fluorescence imaging. © 1994 Springer-Verlag. en
