heal.abstract The light reactions of six N, N′ -diakyl-9,9′ -biacridylidenes (Cl, C4, C6, C7, C10 and C12) with singlet oxygen in homogeneous and micellar media are reported. The chemiluminescence and fluorescence quantum yields and spectra in these media are also reported, together with the fluorescence quantum yields of the long-alkyl-chain N-alkylacridones, the primary emitters. The longer alkyl-chain homologues can be used for competitive reactions in the presence of reductants for analytical applications. © 1994. en
