A new method for the interpretation of pyrolysis-mass spectra of polyesters is described. The method is based on the use of table of pyrolysis-mass spectral data of polyesters. It has two steps: first, the examination of the unknown pyrolysis-mass spectrum in order to extract information about the relationship of specific ion masses with particular polyester structures; second the recongnition and the identification of mass series in the spectrum. Tables of pyrolysis-mass spectrometry (Py-MS) data of polyesters are presented. Examples of the application of the interpretation method are given. The advantages in limitations of the method are presented and discussed. © 1995. |
