For the determination of Ga, Th and U and the group of rare earth elements in bauxitic materials an instrumental neutron activation method based on the irradiation with epithermal neutrons has been developed. Bauxites as well as bauxite tailings from Central Greece were investigated using the reference bauxite BX-N of the ANRT (Association Nationale de la Recherche Technique) for the evaluation. Interference studies were carried out by investigating the isotopic response factors of the various isotopes. The method allowed the rapid and highly sensitive determination of the elements Ga, U and Th and of the rare earth elements La, Eu and Gd. |
