Electroplated tin coatings on mild steel substrates were irradiated with a KrF excimer laser. Microscopic analysis showed that this treatment causes significant changes to the surface of the tin plate. It was also found that the surfaces exposed to radiation with low power density displayed an improved corrosion resistance in 0.3 M sodium chloride solution. © 1995. |
