We present an analysis of folded acoustic-phonon Raman scattering in (311)-oriented GaAs/AlAs superlattices with periodically corrugated interfaces. Besides folded phonons from q parallel to the growth direction, the folded acoustic-phonon modes from additional periodicity along the [011̄] direction are observed at frequencies that are in complete agreement with continuum model calculations. The influence of surface corrugation on confined optical-phonon modes is also discussed. © 1995 The American Physical Society. |
