The production of novel materials on industrial scale starting from laboratory recipes is based on research and development at various scales. Laboratory data and experience give information not directly applicable to large scales. Modification of the preparation process at different scales requires research for controlling the impact of operating variables on product properties at each process stage. Scale-up research reveals key parameters, controlling steps and indicates process routes and constraints in the light of process economics. Under the guidelines of existing laboratory data a manufacturing process was established for the production of up to 1 kg per batch Al- and Al Fe-PILCs reproducibly. © 1995. |
