This paper analyses the impact of mobility functions to an open Service Architecture for a mixed fixed and mobile environment like the one the ACTS DOLMEN project is currently developing, demonstrating, and promoting. In particular, the paper identifies the architectural means needed for the support of terminal and personal mobility functions in a telecommunication environment encompassing mobile networks, and outlines some possible approaches to the placement of these functions into the Reference Service Architecture adopted in DOLMEN. |
