heal.abstract The semi-rigid behavior of steel column bases under static loading consisting of an axial load and a bending moment is investigated. A method that leads to an analytical model that describes through an analytical expression the nonlinear stress distribution under the base-plate is presented. The column base is classified in three types, rigid, semi-rigid, and flexible, depending on the elements that form the connection. For each particular type, the corresponding necessary parameters are computed and are introduced into the analytical expressions, which cover the elastic and the elastoplastic behavior of the connection. en
