Composting of sewage sludge and organic fraction of municipal solid waste can enhance its quality and suitability for agricultural use. The aim of this work is to present the physicochemical characteristics of the compost produced from dewatered, anaerobically stabilized primary sewage sludge (DASPSS) and organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW). The final results indicate a good soil conditioning for agricultural use. The co-composting products are found to have higher concentration of total humics (9.50 %), and organic matter (38.23 %) than the sewage sludge (3.50% and 32.81 %, respectively). Also the heavy metals' concentration in the final products are observed to be in lower concentration than in the sewage sludge compost. |
