A simple model is used to derive a formula for the evaluation of the pull out resistance of a symmetric wedge formed in the roof of a circular tunnel which is excavated in a nonhydrostatic stress field. The model assumes two stages of relaxation with different material properties at each stage. Despite its shortcomings, the analysis is useful for parametric evaluation of wedge stability. |
