heal.abstract The burst-level traffic analysis tool (BLTAT) is a PC-based system capable of analysing incoming ATM traffic per connection or group of connections, at either a UNI or an NNI. It works on a burst-level, which means that it has the capability of delineating bursts that are present in each ATM connection and then recording a set of parameters related to each burst as an individual traffic unit, or to the total traffic stream arriving at the ATM interface. All measurements related to ATM traffic are sent to the processor of the PC hosting the BLTAT card and can be displayed on screen in real time. The support of burst-level metrics, as proposed in the literature and the ATM specification fora is thoroughly discussed. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. en
