heal.abstract This paper comprises the study of the partial substitution of the Portland, alinitic and sulfoaluminate cements raw mix, by the rejected lignite fractions coming from i) their treatment by Selective Reduction of Size (SRS) method and ii) their rejection during their exploitation due to their low calorific value, The fines derived from the application of SRS method are enriched in inorganic material having mineralogical and chemical composition very similar to cement raw meal. Besides the calorific value of the contained organic portion, can contribute to the energy demand for the burning process. The results are strengthened by the use of DSC, TG and XRD methods as well as by the determination of the CaOr content. It is concluded that the rejected lignites can replace the Portland cement raw mix up to 40% and the alinitic and sulfoaluminate raw mix up to 20%. The burning of the organic material promotes the decomposition of the limestone and the early sintering reactions. The contribution of these fractions on alinitic and sulfoaluminate cements is also discussed in this study. It is concluded that the rejected fraction can replace the cement raw mix by 20-40% w/w depending, on the clinker type, The addition of the rejected lignite does not inhibit the usual sintering; reactions and the formation of the main clinker constituents. en
