heal.abstract The electric field caused by the cathodic protection of a buried pipeline, both on the surface and in the soil surrounding the pipeline is considered; at every point the value of the electric potential function U((x,y,z)) is computed from which the electric field intensity (E) over right arrow caused by the cathodic protection system is established. To obtain these results, both the pipeline and the anodes are represented by spherical elements. The precision of this computational approach is validated experimentally. The results are presented as curves and lines of electric field.
