The aim of this work is to study the electrical conductivity of the ceramic compounds VNb9O25 and VTa9O25. The compounds were prepared by three different methods: the co-grinding process, the sol-gel process using oxides (V2O5, Nb2O5 or Ta2O5) as precursors, and the sol-gel process using alkoxides (VO(OC2H5)3, Nb(OC2H5)5 or Ta(OC2H5)5). The formed compounds were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses, while electrical conductivity measurements were conducted with the four-point DC method. Results indicated that all samples lay in the semiconductive area and differences in electrical conductivity values were observed depending on the preparation method and the microstructure of the sample. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
