In the present paper, the influence of iron and chrome chromophores in both oxidised and reduced valences as well as blisters, mainly in the form of sulphur dioxide, were determined. These parameters define the oxidation state of the melt which affects the properties of the resulting glass such as colour and sulphur retention. The range of iron oxide content, chromium oxide content as well as the redox ratio (Fe2+/Fe-total) values in the final glass was specified in order to have acceptable amber colour. Finally, sulphur retention and the existence of SO2 blisters in the final glass was used to determine the maximum quantity, especially of green cullet, that can be added in order to have well refined amber glass. |
