heal.abstract |
All-optical Boolean exclusive OR operation is demonstrated on a high-speed serial bit stream with a three-optical-input-fiber Sagnac interferometer that employs a semiconductor optical amplifier as the nonlinear element. Full duty cycle bit switching has been achieved at 20 GHz with low switching energies and contrast ratio as high as 10.4 dB. (C) 2003 Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers. |
