heal.abstract A novel method for the synthesis of 3-substituted 4-hydroxy-1-methyl- and 1-phenyl-2-quinolones is presented. The compounds are produced in a one-step reaction in very good yields (51-76%). The major advantage of the methodology is the short time for the synthesis in contrast to previous methodologies requiring several steps and harsh conditions for the synthesis of quinolone derivatives. en
