heal.abstract A new type of microstrip patch antenna is designed and developed to be used in ground-penetrating radar (GPR) applications. The developed antenna is an E-shaped rectangular patch, with additional co-planar microstrip resonators and a slotted ground plane. The measurements show that this antenna provides impedance bandwidths greater than 15% using low-cost FR4 substrate. A dielectric cover makes this antenna easily and effectively applicable to difficult GPR applications. (C) 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. en
