The complex permittivity of mineral-insulating oils employed for 150-kV power transformers was monitored as a function of frequency and temperature with the use of a high precision LCR meter. Monitoring was performed on both synthetic mixtures of brand-new oil samples with varying humidity content and as-received samples from field-operating power transformers. Overall, results provide insight on the state of the insulation within the components and the service life of power transformers. |
