The present article provides a number of technical comments on a model for the short-term prediction of arterial travel times, as it was described by Lin, Kulkarni, and Mirchandani ( 2004). The article discusses several limitations related to data requirements and underlying assumptions, which can affect the accuracy and the statistical robustness of the proposed model. This discussion signifies potential improvements with regard to the efficiency and the practical usage of such types of models for the real-time deployment of advanced traveler information systems in signalized street networks of realistic size. |
