heal.abstract We show that if there is coexistence of d-wave singlet superconductivity with spin density waves (SDW), these states also coexist with a staggered triplet superconducting component (pi-triplet at zone boundary) because of backward scattering with non-magnetic impurities. The density of non-magnetic impurities may influence the relative importance of the singlet and triplet SC components that may, therefore, be sample dependent. Controversies about the parity of the gap in some unconventional superconductors may be related to this generic impurity induced mixing of d-wave singlet and pi-triplet SC components in the presence of a SDW.
