The Semantic Web must handle information from applications that deals with random information and events, imprecise and fuzzy knowledge, missing or distorted information, resulting in uncertainty. Many researchers have proposed extending OWL and Description Language (DL) formalisms with special mathematical frameworks, to deal with uncertainty in Semantic Web and its applications. The problem with uncertainty extensions to Semantic Web languages is that the uncertainty comes in many forms, so there could not be just one global extension. FiRE is a prototype implementation of a reasoning algorithm for an expressive fuzzy DL language. It uses several output taps to provide information about the fuzzy knowledge base. It also shows a model of the fuzzy knowledge base after its consistency is checked. |
