heal.abstract |
The perfectly conducting circular cylinder is a simple type of radiator and scatterer. The effects of coating the cylinder have been studied in a number of papers. In the present work arbitrary magnetic and electric axial surface currents are considered on the cylinder, while the coating is radially inhomogeneous following a power-law. The Helmholtz equation possesses a closed-form solution in such materials involving Bessel functions of non-integer order. After the determination of the scattered field the coating that optimizes the backscattering reflection is determined. Several numerical results are presented and discussed. |
