heal.abstract A systematic micro-Raman study has been carried out on high quality La2-xSrxCuO4 compounds with x = 0.0-0.45, in the temperature range of 10-300 K. It is shown that the behavior of the asymmetry of the Apex phonon could be due to doping induced local lattice distortions. The variation of the relative intensity of the La/Sr and the apex phonons, of A(g) symmetry, is found to be correlated with T-c even at low temperatures. Symmetry forbidden broad bands appear at similar to 150, 370, and 280 cm(-1) with intensities correlated with the doping dependence of the transition temperature. All these results can be attributed to the formation of stripes at temperatures well above the transition temperature. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. en
