heal.abstract A novel short-step methodology to benzothiopyranone derivatives has been developed starting from an activated precursor, N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of thiosalicylic acid. The procedure is based on a tandem C-acylation-cyclisation process under mild reaction conditions in good yields.
