heal.abstract	IN a rod-plane gap subjected to 1/50-μsec impulse voltages (rod positive-plane negative) the breakdown is initiated by a corona discharge at the rod which is then followed by a positive channel crossing the gap. The main discharge of the breakdown occurs after the bridging of the gap by the channel. Investigations concerning this phenomenon are reported by Allibone1 and recently by other workers2-9. © 1962 Nature Publishing Group.	en
