heal.abstract The paper reports on a study of a simple experimental method for boundary shear stress measurement in open channel flow. The method is based on Preston's technique but it takes advantage of an experimentally simpler and very reliable apparatus, the electronic micropropeller. In the study the method is explained and compared with Preston's arrangement. The calibration, verification and a number of measurements are also presented. Finally, the applicability and the limitations of the method are explained. en
