The future of digital telephony can on the one hand be seen as a gradual introduction of digital transmission and switching equipment in the existing network and on the other as a continuous development of digital technology towards the Integrated Services Digital Network. The transition to digital technology is characteristic of the degree of modernization. Advanced technologies both in hardware and software provide the basis for the design of a new full digital switching system. |
