Using solid state reactions, the limits of the intermetallic phases lambda and mu of the system Fe-W, at temperatures below 1100 degree C, were determined and single crystals of both phases were produced. The lattice parameter of the lambda - and mu -phases, as well as their chemical composition are also determined. It is apparent that the lambda -phase corresponds to the formula Fe//2W and it may have an excess of W, whereas the mu -phase always shows a lower content of W than the one corresponding to the formula Fe//7W//6. |
