The effect of water at standard temperature and pressure on the rate of craze growth in polystyrene was studied with an elapsed-time photography method. Water was found to be a mild crazing agent for polystyrene, increasing the craze velocity by somewhat more than an order of magnitude at room temperature. The craze length was found to increase proportional to the |
