heal.abstract |
The concept of the crack particle was introduced in the present paper in order to describe the dynamic crack propagation in an elastic plane medium. The Fokker-Planck ordinary differential equation was derived to incorporate the deterministic character of the phenomenon, as well as the stochastic action of a spectrum of forces, due to the inhomogeneities of the materials. A stability analysis yielded analytical expressions for bifurcation of cracks. |
