An externally controlled drying model, involving the heat and mass transfer coefficients as model parameters, is proposed. A non-linear regression procedure was applied to fit the model to experimental data on material moisture content and temperature. The precision and correlation of the estimated coefficients are examined by considering the joint confidence regions. The method is applied successfully to an industrial belt dryer for moisture removal from raisins. © 1991. |
