In this paper, the AM--FM modulation model and a multibandanalysis/demodulation scheme is applied to speechformant frequency and bandwidth tracking. Filtering isperformed by a bank of Gabor bandpass filters. Each bandis demodulated to amplitude envelope and instantaneousfrequency signals using the energy separation algorithm.Short-time formant frequency and bandwidth estimates areobtained from the instantaneous amplitude and frequencysignals and their merits are presented.
