heal.abstract | In this paper, the generalized network (GN) model is considered. Starting with a general presentation of the GN formulation and problem statement, an overview of the major algorithms developed over the years (Jewell's algorithm, dual algorithm, relaxation algorithm) is provided. Then a new GN modelling tool, the Genet-Optimizer, developed by the authors, is briefly presented. Genet-Optimizer is an integrated software environment for the analysis and solution of practical problems that can be put in the GN form, and has four components; data subsystem. model subsystem, report subsystem and control subsystem (interfaced with the user). Two examples are included to support the theory. Finally, the principal areas of application of the GN model in real-life problems are briefly discussed. | en |
