heal.abstract | This article reviews researches by the author and his co-workers (from 1950 to 1995) on Al-Mg alloy (corrosion and protection) and the properties of its anodic oxides. A new method of electroplating Al using graphite is presented, as well as two new, successive layers of electrolytic oxides on the known one, the mechanism of their preparation anodically, their sorptive and catalytic properties, a new catalytic reactor, and their ageing; the protection of Al-Mg alloy by properly oriented anodic coatings, and an interpretation of the formation of active path, as well as the dependence of the time to failure from the orientation of the notches and of the stress direction; introduction of specimens with electrolytically prepared notches, n-semiconductors of Al2O3 as anticorrosive pigments for metals and marble-stones of monuments. The resistance of Al-Mg anodised and sealed in simulated polluted conditions and outdoors is also investigated. | en |
