A new arrangement concerning the topology, operation and use of the magnetostrictive delay line (MDL) principle is presented in this paper. According to this set-up, the MDL arrangement can be miniaturized down to the micrometer scale, without coils and air gaps, thus allowing a simple and cost effective manufacturing process, in the form of thick and thin films.
