In this paper, the use of multirate-output controllers for sampled-data minimum H-infinity-norm regulation of civil engineering structures is investigated for the first time. The proposed control strategy contains a multirate sampling mechanism with different sampling period to each system measured-output. The civil engineering structures; studied in the paper, are considered to be assembled from finite elements obeying linear material laws their displacements are small and the number of measured outputs is at least equal to the number of the disturbance forces and equal to the number of the control forces. The proposed technique relies on the equivalence between the action of multirate-output controllers and the action of static state feedback controllers, thus greatly simplifying the theoretical and computational aspects of the H-infinity-control problem. |
