In the present work we utilize Rayleigh's approach for the study of scattering of electromagnetic waves by dielectric ellipsoidal particles and express the scattering amplitude and cross-section in a closed form. Applying the low-frequency approximation, we find the leading terms of the scattering amplitude and cross-section to be inversely proportional to the third and fourth power of the radiation wavelength, respectively. Finally we examine the multiple scattering problem by considering an array of randomly distributed orientation of the particles as well. |
