Nonlinear optical systems are dependent on the value of the coupling coefficient σ. For σ>>1, the system models the dynamics of the interaction of two modes in nonlinear optical fibers or in directional couplers with weak intermodal coupling in the high intensity limit. The value σ = 1 which is the Manakov case, corresponds to two cases; a purely electrostrictive nonlinearity and the elliptical birefringence. A wide class of travelling wave solutions is found to posses a Stackel potential character exhibiting two integrals of motion. Manakov case is used as the unperturbed reference state in a perturbative scheme for σ≠1. Stochasticity accompanies the solitary-type envelope solutions to the perturbed Manakov system. |
