heal.abstract |
A method to upgrade the repetition rate of 10 GHz laser sources to 40 GHz was discussed. The method consisted of a 10 GHz gain switched, short pulse laser sources whose output was introduced in a Fabry-Perot filter with 40 GHz FSR (free spectral range) to generate 40 GHz signal. The pulses were doubly passed through a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) to remove the amplitude modulation. The laser sources was shown to display amplitude modulation below 0.25 dB and stable operation. |
